On an annual basis, the Department of State solicits grant applications from local governments for 50/50 matching grants from the New York State Environmental Protection Fund's Local Waterfront Revitalization Program.

2008-2009 Grant Cycle

In 2008-2009, the Department of State requested proposals in the following grant categories:

• Visioning and development of local or regional revitalization strategies
  
• Completing or implementing a Local or Regional Waterfront Revitalization Program
  
• Preparing or implementing a local or regional watershed management plan
  
• Downtown and hamlet revitalization
  
• Urban waterfront redevelopment
  
• Adapting to Climate Change
  
• Creating a Blueway Trail
  
• Interpreting Waterfront Resources - New York State Coastal Resources Interpretive Program
